Portadown 1st XV vs Ards RFC
Portadown hosted Ards RFC at Chambers Park on the 12th November, where Portadown hosted their annual ‘Captain’s Day’ in the Chamber’s Park Clubhouse. Thanks to all who attended our Captains Day on Saturday and gave to raffle on Saturday. Together we raised £404 for NIPANC (Northern Ireland Pancreatic Cancer)
Portadown where determined to give a better account of themselves from the previous week. They started well and after early pressure and some great team play Portadown managed to get two penalties on the scoreboard thanks to Winger Matty Neill. 6-0 to Portadown. Winger Charlie Logan scored scored for the Ports after some great play by both backs and forwards. The score was 11-0 and it stayed that way until half time.
Portadown came out determined in the second half and started to up the pressure. More great play out wide allowed back row Jake Taylor to beat a few defenders and run in to score. The fry was converted by Matty Neill, making it 18-0. Further scores from Chris Cousens and Jamie Hayes gave Portadown a 28-0 lead. The game finished 28-5 with Ards getting a late score.
Portadown travel to Ards RFC next week, kick off at 2:30pm.
Ballymoney 2nd XV vs Portadown 2nd XV
Saturday saw the 2nd XV return to action after a few weeks off with a visit to Ballymoney. The blues started strong and their first two visits into the opposition 22 left them leading 0-6 after 15 minutes. A breakdown in communication out wide allowed Ballymoney back into the game with a try in the corner to bring the scores 5-6. Shortly after, a break through the middle allowed them to take the lead 10-6.
Just on the blow of half time Portadown suffered a blow with an injury to Luc Anderson which caused a lengthy break before the start of the second half. Unfortunately the blues could not break through the strong defence of the opposition and another Ballymoney try sealed the win for the home team leaving the score 17-6.
Portadown Under 18s vs Belfast Met Under 18s
Portadown U18s played on Saturday against a much fancied Belfast Met side and went down 40-0. Stand out performance for the home team was Ed Davies who received a £10 voucher from Flat Dog’s.
