Portadown travelled to Gibson Park to take on Grosvenor RFC in the league on Saturday.
It terrible weather conditions it was Grosvenor who scored first with a penalty to make it 3-0. Portadown responded shortly after with a superb try scored by the forwards. After a good line out they mauled over to get the first try of the game. The try was converted to make it 3-7.
Portadown remained on the front foot but couldn’t take their chances and it was Grosvenor who scored next but missing the kick. The score was 8-7 and stayed this way to half time.
The second half was played in similar conditions to the first with both teams fighting the weather. Portadown scored again in the 70th minute with Brandon Gribben crashing over after a fantastic run. The try was converted leaving it 8-14.
Grosvenor managed to score a last gasp try and converted it to take the win 15-14.
Portadown host City of Derry RFC this coming Saturday the 16th at Chambers Park. All support welcome.
